We're Pregnant! All the Changes...

When we found out in February of 2008 that we were pregnant, we made a lot of changes. With the desire to be closer to family, Trevor investigated jobs in the Portland area and we started looking at buying a home. He quickly found a position with an international wind power company, Vestas, and was persuaded to start a month earlier than expected!

We traded weekends commuting between Portland and Seattle (Woodinville actually). While Trevor visited Woodinville, we worked on packing up our apartment and sending as much down in our little red Nissan truck. When I made it to Portland, we checked into the neighborhoods and attempted to get our bearings for where we'd like to put down some roots.

I was finishing up my patient care with Health Moves, where I had been practicing naturopathic medicine for the past two years. As I reviewed my patients' charts, shared the news that I would be moving, and introduced patients to a new doctor they would be seeing in the clinic, I mourned each relationship we had worked so hard to build over the time they had been seeing me. I really believe that a change like this can really be beneficial in terms of looking at health history and current concerns in a new way, but knew I would miss my patients all the same. I would also miss the relationships with the doctors and staff who allowed me to see humor in all things and understand the depth of committment they have to patient care and a well-run clinic. Someday, I'll start it again in a new place, and I know it will all work out.

My last day of work came quickly. I packed up my last few things, said goodbye to everyone and had one last night staying with Alison before heading to my new again hometown of Portland.

All our house hunting prepared us well. We knew exactly what we wanted, and got more than we'd hoped for! We moved into our River Street home in West Linn, OR the night of July 3rd. Just in time for the River Street July 4th festivities where we had the chance to meet our neighbors.
