Bradley Classes

Trevor and I decided that we would take a Bradley natural childbirth class to help prepare us for the big day. We found one offered very close to our new home in West Linn in the home of a Bradley instructor (Kara Cirioli). Over an 8 week course, we spent Thursday evenings with 4 other couples learning the different stages of labor, important nutrition information during pregnancy, positions for labor and delivery and the importance of relaxation and a supportive birthing team. We had many special guests to introduce other important aspects including a chiropractor, lactation specialist and a former Bradley-trained couple to tell their birth story and answer our questions.

We played games to practice our birthing positions and test our new labor knowledge and visited with the other expecting couples during our snack breaks. After finishing the class, Trevor and I felt that we had an entirely new and more educated view of how natural childbirth could proceed. We wrote out our birth plan, kept up our activity/exercise, continued to focus on adequate protein, and discussed ways to keep a relaxing atmosphere during the upcoming birth.
